Brigette Sobus


Owner of Salon Soca Salon in Chicago, IL. Brigette launched her style-setting career in 1993 at Mario Tricocci in Chicago.

Brigette has valued the importance of education and mentoring throughout her career, which inspired her to pursue numerous advanced certifications as a stylist, business owner and salon trainer. In 2004 Brigette opened Salon Soca in Chicago and started advanced business coaching.

In 2009, Salon Soca was recognized as one of the fastest growing salons in North America by Salon Today magazine, earning the distinction as a Top 200 Salon. The salon has earned a distinction in the Top 200 Salon list every year consecutively since.

Prior to opening Salon Soca in 2005, Brigette held senior stylist, educational and management positions at top salons including Mario Tricocci, Zano’s Hair Design and J.Bauer Salon in Chicago, and Subway Salon in New Jersey.

Brigette is a member of the American Board of Certified Colorists and was honored with the Colorist of the Year Award in 2001 at Mario Tricoci. Since, Salon Soca has won the Citysearch Chicago Voter’s Choice Award for Best Color and Highlights in 2007; and the salon was selected to participate in Chicago Fashion Week in 2008.

Brigette continually studies the latest hair innovations and has attended many prestigious professional programs including Vidal Sassoon Advanced Color (London), Vidal Sassoon Advanced Cutting (Miami & Chicago), Aveda Institute (Chicago and Toronto). She is devoted to the management and business development of salons, and has attended Aveda Business College in Minneapolis, and every month teaches business development, coaching and professional classes for salon owners.

In 2012, Brigette started pursuing another dream of working towards her accreditation as a Business and Life Coach with the International Coaching Federation. She was so inspired by the training and education she experienced that she wanted to help empower other people to achieve their dreams and live a more fulfilling life.

Brigette is passionate about the hair care industry and is committed to increasing her knowledge and educating others about the salon business.  Though she no longer spends much time behind the chair, Brigette forms lasting authentic bonds with her clients. She is a dedicated salon business owner, trainer and mentor who puts her heart into all she does.

Danielle Barberini

Danielle is passionate about finding you the right haircut. She believes strongly in a  thorough consultation to customize your look. Being a licensed barber and cosmetologist, perfecting her craft is a high priority. She has taken countless classes through Aveda, American Crew, and Vidal Sassoon to name a few. Her love of traditional barbering, hair styling and hair color shines through her work.

Outside of the salon Danielle loves to travel with her husband and see as many concerts as possible.

Lexi Grivetti

Lexi went to Illinois Valley Community College and received two associate degrees in science and art.  While attending college she worked as an assistant in a salon and realized she never wanted to leave the salon atmosphere.  She decided to go to Douglas J Aveda Institute in Chicago, and loved her decision to make a career in the hair industry.  After graduating school she wanted to stay with Aveda and stay in beautiful Chicago.  She found her home at Salon Soca and loves being part of our team!

Lexi loves learning new things and continues to take classes at the Aveda Institute.  She likes to stay current with trends.  There is nothing Lexi enjoys more than spending quality time with her family and friends.

Lexi wants all of her guests to leave the salon loving the way they look.  Whether it’s with a new haircut or color, she wants you to feel beautiful and confident!

Emily Bailey

Emily grew up in Florida, where she received a Bachelor of Science in Business from Florida Gulf Coast University. Upon graduation, she decided to pursue a path that would allow her to use her artistic abilities, and she moved to Chicago to attend the Aveda Institute.

Emily has always had a passion for beauty. Her talents and interests have led her to focus on cutting and color, and she continues to further her skills through advanced educational classes. She started working with henna hair color in 2007 as an alternative option for clients who are allergic to traditional color.

In 2009, Emily took on a new challenge and became involved in Salon Soca’s education program as a cutting coach to stylists in training. Emily is passionate about creating new styles that make people look and feel great.

Cortney Tippin

Cortney has a style that is all her own, born of her passion and talent for design. She is an accomplished graduate from the Aveda Institute of Chicago and fully believes in the importance of incorporating environmental sustainability into her work.

She is committed to enriching her skills and learning new techniques by staying up to date with current innovations and trends through advanced education and personal pursuits. Cortney loves doing hair and makeup for fashion shows, weddings, and special events. Her attention to detail and her desire to sustain her creative edge are what drive her work.

It’s easy to understand her quickly growing clientele, because she is personable, intuitive and able to understand the needs and wants of her guests; and she has the skills to fulfill them.

Michelle Burbatt

Michelle describes her style as edgy, contemporary and fashion-inspired yet wearable. It’s no surprise how she developed this unique style through the training she received from around the continent and in Europe. A graduate of Toni & Guy Academy (Denver), Michelle has also received advanced training from Toni & Guy Academy (London), Vidal Sassoon (Miami) and the Aveda Institute Toronto.

Michelle says her dedication to creativity and ongoing training creates exciting coloring techniques and sharp haircuts.

Nicole Etkin

Nicole graduated from the David Pressley School of Cosmetology in Royal Oak, MI. While in school, she assisted at Peter’s Place for Hair and worked there full time after graduating.

She has continued her training at Salon Soca where she has been ever since arriving in Chicago. Nicole has experienced several advanced training programs with Aveda and Vidal Sassoon. Always willing to continue her education in cutting, color and makeup, Nicole is able to keep up with fashion and beauty trends each season.

Her great passion for hair has allowed her to build the career that she has today. She excels with hair color, although blondes are her specialty with makeup a close second. Her clients are always left happy and feeling refreshed with their new colors and cuts.

Nicole enjoys spending time with her close knit family, her dog, and a not so secret love of reality television!

Lauren Kimura

Lauren credits her career as a stylist to two simple factors: creativity and people. After working as an assistant in a salon for five years, she decided to pursue a career as a stylist.

Lauren attended Pivot Point School of Cosmetology. After graduating, she continued her education with advanced training from Mekka, and at the Aveda Institute.

Lauren specializes in cutting and coloring with a deft hand for highlights. In describing her passion as a stylist, Lauren says she loves the creativity and the positive interaction with people.
